OFF97: IPF in FM20.DLL when Showing UserForm

SYMPTOMS

When you show a user form you receive the following error message:

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

When you click Details, you receive the following error message:

'<program>' caused an invalid page fault in module FM20.DLL at 015f:60013e12.

Where '<program>' is the Microsoft Office program you are currently using. When you click Close the program is shut down but an instance of the program is left running in memory.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when one of the following conditions is true:

You programmatically set the Autosize property to True for a user form control from the Control Toolbox.

-or-
You programmatically set the Autosize property to True for a bitmap image that the LoadPicture method is loading onto the user form.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
