Printing with Okidata Microline 92/93 or Other Printers

ID: Q30948

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Paintbrush for MS-DOS, version 1.0

SUMMARY

When you print with an Okidata Microline 92 or 93, you may see a thin vertical space occurring approximately every 1/4 inch. This problem can occur with any low-resolution printer.

Paintbrush uses a scan conversion algorithm and with any program that uses this type of algorithm it must make arbitrary decisions about which pixels to double, and which pixels to skip. The lower the printer resolution, the more picture pixels are skipped.

The Okidata Microline 93 can be modified to emulate an IBM Graphics printer by adding 2764 EPROMS that are included in a package called "IBM Plug and Play Kit." This procedure prevents the spaces in the printout.
