SUMMARY

Most computers run diagnostics when first turned on. These diagnostics are commonly referred to as the POST (Power-On Self Test). If an error is found in the system, an error code is returned by the POST. These errors are often accompanied by an unpleasant beep and are most common after changing the hardware.
