PaintBrush Err Msg: Divide-Overflow

ID: Q38457

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Paintbrush for MS-DOS, versions 2.0, 4.0

SUMMARY

You may receive a "divide-overflow" error message when you start or use Paintbrush. This can occur in any of the following situations:

  • There is another memory-resident program conflicting with Frieze loading. Use a clean DOS boot to determine if resident software is the cause of the problem.

  • The switch settings on the motherboard are wrong for the 8087 coprocessor (that is, if you do not have a coprocessor and your motherboard is set as if you do). This only occurs with some systems.

  • The wrong video display adapter was chosen during the installation of Paintbrush. For example, this error occurs if you select an EGA adapter but the system has a CGA adapter. To avoid this problem, select a new display adapter in PBSETUP. Also, check to make sure that all the information about the display adapter is known so that a proper match can be found.
