Excel: Duplicate NOTE or DEFINE.NAME in Recorded Macro

ID: Q81567

SUMMARY

Duplicate NOTE() or DEFINE.NAME() macro functions may appear in recorded macros when only one note or name is added. This does not adversely affect the functionality of a recorded macro, but it does decrease its execution speed slightly.

To avoid this behavior while recording a macro, choose OK without choosing Add when defining a single name, or adding a single note. If you are defining more than one name or note, choose Add for all except the last note or name, then choose OK after the last one.

If duplicate functions are inadvertently recorded, just delete the duplicates.

MORE INFORMATION

The NOTE() and DEFINE.NAME() functions are recorded when you choose either Add or OK. This is to allow recording the definition of multiple names or notes before closing the dialog box.
