PRB: Appearance of Combo/DBCombo Always 3D under Win95/98

SYMPTOMS

The ComboBox and DBCombo controls are displayed with a 3-D appearance only under Windows 95 or Windows 98, regardless of the value of the Appearance property.

This problem does not occur with 16-bit Visual Basic 4.0.


RESOLUTION

There is no known workaround.


STATUS

This is a Windows 95/98 32-bit limitation.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Select the File/New Project menu option to create a new project.


  2. Add one of the combo controls (any style) to Form1.


  3. Set Appearance of the control to 0 (Flat).


In design and run mode, the appearance of the control remains 3-D.
