BUG: Error Logging Could Have Problems in WebClass Designers

• Microsoft Visual Basic Professional and Enterprise Editions for Windows, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS

WebClasses may crash when error logging is turned on.

RESOLUTION

Turn off error logging for the WebClass designer. This parameter is configurable in the registry.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious, system-wide problems that may require you to reinstall Windows to correct them. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the use of Registry Editor can be solved. Use this tool at your own risk.

The registry entry is following:

   HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
      \SOFTWARE
         \Microsoft
            \Visual Basic
               \6.0
                  \WebClass
                     \LogErrors 

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

MORE INFORMATION

Usually only occurs when running the application in the Visual Basic IDE.
