BUG: Contents of Directory List Box Are Not Sorted

The information in this article applies to:

Microsoft Visual Basic Standard and Professional Editions for MS-DOS, version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

The entries in the Directory list box in Visual Basic are not sorted. The entries are arranged in the order that the MS-DOS find-first/find-next service returns them (the same order used by the DIR command).

This behavior is different from the Directory list box in Visual Basic version 1.0 for Windows where entries are sorted alphabetically.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in Microsoft Visual Basic version 1.0 for MS-DOS. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
