SETUP.EXE on Bernoulli Hard Disk Is Not Supported

SYMPTOMS

The Setup program (SETUP.EXE) for Microsoft Visual Basic for MS-DOS may fail on Bernoulli drives or on a number of removable hard disks. If this happens, use the alternative setup batch file ALTSETUP.BAT, found on disk 1 instead of the Setup program.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in Microsoft Visual Basic for MS-DOS, version 1.0. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.


MORE INFORMATION

When you try to run SETUP.EXE to install Visual Basic on a Bernoulli hard disk, you may get an error message reporting that you need additional hard disk space even though the drive has sufficient space available.
