MORE INFORMATION

Novel XT Clone

The Novel XT clone will hang when attempting to run code in the interpreter (VBDOS.EXE) with the Athena hardware/software combination installed. (Athena is a driver that allows a Hercules card to emulate CGA graphics.)

When the Athena driver was removed from the CONFIG.SYS file, VBDOS.EXE worked correctly.

VDEFEND

SETUP.EXE will hang if VDEFEND is loaded into memory. VDEFEND is a virus detection utility that is shipped with PC TOOLS.

If you issue the MS-DOS DIR command and then run SETUP.EXE, the setup will work correctly.

Also, if you remove VDEFEND, SETUP.EXE to will function properly. Another option is to use the alternative setup utility (ALTSETUP.EXE).
