/ES Option Is Not Valid in the Standard Edition

SYMPTOMS

The /ES option is not available in the Standard Edition of Visual Basic for MS-DOS. However, when running BC.EXE with the option /? to see the option list, the /ES option is listed even though it is not an available option.

Using the compiler in the Standard Edition with the /ES option results in the following error:

BC : Ignored unknown command line option : /ES
If you start VBDOS.EXE with the /ES option, the interpreter environment ignores the option.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Standard Edition of Microsoft Visual Basic version 1.0 for MS-DOS. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
