BUG: VID Hangs Adding Large Files to Project Over SSL

ID: Q165833

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Visual InterDev, version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

Visual InterDev may hang while waiting for certain large files to be copied to the server over SSL (secure socket layer).

CAUSE

Attempting to add large files (about 100K and up) over SSL can cause Visual InterDev to hang because the large files do not get placed on the server. Therefore, the add file operation never completes.

RESOLUTION

Aside from physically placing the large files on the server, or decreasing the size of the files added to the project, there are no known workarounds for this problem with Visual InterDev 1.0.

STATUS

This problem has been addressed in Visual InterDev 6.0 when used in conjunction with Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) 4.0. The Visual InterDev 6.0 package contains IIS 4.0. Information on IIS 4.0 can be obtained at:

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. Create a new Web project.

  2. Point to an SSL server, and choose "connect using SSL."

  3. Add a file to the project that is larger than 100K in size. This results in VID hanging.
