ID: Q168269

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Visual InterDev, version 1.0

SYMPTOMS

When using the MSWC.BrowserType control that installs with the Active Server Pages, the properties of the control return "Unknown" when run on Internet Explorer 3.02 or Internet Explorer 4.0.

CAUSE

The cause of this error is that the file, BrowsCap.ini, does not have an entry for Internet Explorer 3.02 or Internet Explorer 4.0.

RESOLUTION

An updated version of the BrowsCap.ini file is available from the following Web site:

http://www.microsoft.com/isn/faq/support.asp
Download the file and save it over the existing BrowsCap.ini file. This file should be located in \Program Files\WEBSVR\SYSTEM\ASP\Cmpnts on a Windows 95 machine or in \WINNT\system32\inetsrv\ASP\Cmpnts on a Windows NT machine.
