ID: Q192568

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Visual Studio versions 97, 6.0

SYMPTOMS

Nested Custom Menu items revert to their default "Custom Menu #" name after you restart Developer Studio twice.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

Steps to Reproduce Behavior

  1. On the Tools menu, click Customize, and then click the Commands tab.

  2. In the Category list, select New Menu.

  3. Drag and drop the New Menu item from the Command list box to an empty space on the toolbar.

  4. A disabled menu "Custom Menu 1" will appear. Click it once and an empty menu should drop down from it.

  5. Add a command to the Custom Menu 1 menu by selecting File from the Category list and dragging the File "New" image to the custom menu.

  6. Right-click Custom Menu 1, and click Button Appearance.

  7. Change the name from Custom Menu 1 to TEST.

  8. Repeat steps 2 through 6; however, make the new menu a submenu of TEST by placing it on the TEST menu.

  9. Rename the new submenu from Custom Menu 2 to SUB1.

  10. Exit Developer Studio.

  11. Start Developer Studio and verify the custom menu and submenu names.

  12. Exit Developer Studio.

  13. Start Developer Studio and click TEST once.

RESULTS: SUB1 has reverted back to the default name Custom Menu 2.
