Refreshing Host Name Registration

SUMMARY

The Windows 2000 client registers its host name with the Dynamic Domain Name System (DNS). This registration may go missing from the Dynamic DNS server zone file for a variety of reasons. However, an administrator can use the Ipconfig tool to refresh the DNS registration without restarting the workstation or server.


MORE INFORMATION

To refresh the registration of computers with either static or dynamically assigned IP addresses, type:

ipconfig /registerdns
