Duplicate Connection Folders Created When Importing Phonebook Entries from Windows NT 4.0

  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server

SUMMARY

Windows 2000 Professional allows you to import Remote Access Service (RAS) Phonebook files (.pbk) from earlier versions of Windows NT. If you import multiple phonebooks, you can create multiple connections with the same name in the Network and Dial-Up Connections folder. Windows does not identify which connection came from which phonebook.

This is by design to comply with Zero Administration Windows (ZAW) standards requiring parsing of multiple phone books. RAS connections are global, not user specific.
