SYMPTOMSIf you install Windows 2000 on an external SCSI drive connected to a PCMCIA SCSI adapter or on a drive in a docking station, the computer may not boot after the initial portion of Setup finishes. CAUSEThis behavior occurs because there is not yet a standard to allow booting from a PCMCIA device, although a few new computers support this feature. MORE INFORMATION
Windows 2000 does support installing on and booting from removable media, but does not allow installation to PCMCIA AT disks.
