SYMPTOMS
If you have multiple connections configured to connect you to the Internet and you have the proxy automatic dialing settings configured to dial a certain connection, you may receive an error message stating that the dial-up connection did not succeed if you manually connect with a different connection and then try to browse the Web with Microsoft Internet Explorer.
CAUSEThis behavior occurs because proxy is not a router. If you specify that a certain connection should be used, proxy uses only that connection to get to the Internet. If proxy cannot dial the entry, you receive an error message. RESOLUTIONIf you want the connection to be automatically detected, you may want to look into installing Routing and Remote Access Server (RRAS) to handle the routing. STATUSThis behavior is by design. If the specified connection really was the only way to the Internet and the connection did not work, there would be a long delay before you received an error message. Additional query words: autodial
