  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Advanced Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server

SYMPTOMS

Sending mail to a fax printer with only the Subject field populated does not work on clients. If you type one or more characters in the message body, the problem does not occur. Also, if you populate the body and then delete everything in the body, the problem does not occur.

Specific behavior while leaving the body empty:

  • Microsoft Windows NT clients: The job appears in the queue briefly and then disappears. The client then receives notification that mail could not be sent. No dialing occurs.

  • Microsoft Windows 95 and Microsoft Windows 98 clients: The job does not appear in the queue, no notification is received, and no dialing occurs.

  • Windows 2000 Server: Faxing works correctly with or without the body populated.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
