ID: Q216430

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to log on to a NetWare server using the LOGIN.EXE command from a Windows 2000 Professional-based computer with Client Services for NetWare (CSNW) installed, you receive the following error message:

LOGIN-4.13-870: Unknown error has respond from server
Error code:4

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because the LOGIN.EXE command is not supported in Windows 2000 CSNW.

RESOLUTION

Use Windows Explorer, or the NET USE command, to perform the same functions as the NetWare ATTACH, CAPTURE, LOGIN, and LOGOUT commands, which are not supported in Windows 2000 CSNW.
