VPN Connections Dropped When Computer Goes Into Suspend Mode

SYMPTOMS

When your computer goes into Suspend mode, all active Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections may be disconnected.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you manually put your computer into Suspend mode. Your computer does not automatically go into Suspend mode when there is an active VPN connection.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.


MORE INFORMATION

If your computer is configured as a local area network (LAN) router, it never goes into Suspend mode.
