Cannot Start Microsoft Management Console Component from a Command Line

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) Performance Monitor tool from a command line, you may be unable to do so.


CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you type sysmon. You must include the file extension when starting MMC components from a command line.


RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, type sysmon.msc.
