  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Datacenter Server
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

SYMPTOMS

When you use an early version of the Xircom CE3 network adapter, you may experience any of the following symptoms:

  • During a large file transfer, network connectivity is lost. Connectivity can be established again by removing and reinserting the network adapter.

  • If the network adapter is inserted without a cable attached, CPU usage goes to maximum, causing the computer to stop responding (hang).

  • The network appears to be connected even without a cable attached.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you are using a Xircom CE3 network adapter revision 0340C or earlier. Note that on most Xircom cards, you can view the firmware revision by looking at the serial number sticker on the card.

RESOLUTION

Please contact Xircom to inquire about obtaining a replacement adapter.
