SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start the File and Print Services for NetWare (FPNW) service, you may receive the following error message:

Error 3: The system cannot find the path specified

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if the Spooler service is not currently running.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, start the Spooler service, and then start the FPNW service.

MORE INFORMATION

The FPNW service enables a Windows 2000 server to emulate a Novell NetWare 3.1x server. Since the FPNW service relies on the Spooler service for functionality, the Spooler service must be running when you attempt to start the FPNW service.
