Directory Services Migration Tool Does Not Detect Existing NetWare Connections

SYMPTOMS

When you are using the Windows 2000 Directory Services Migration tool (Dsmigrate) to discover a view from NetWare, you are prompted to authenticate yourself on the selected NetWare source, even though you may already have existing valid credentials.


CAUSE

Dsmigrate does not detect existing NetWare connections at the beginning of the discover process.


RESOLUTION

Enter the appropriate credentials for the NetWare source when you are prompted.

Dsmigrate is a migration tool included with Windows 2000 Server that allows for non-destructive, off-line, migration of user objects and files from NetWare (both NDS and bindery) to Windows 2000 Active Directory directory services.
