Error Message: The <Name> Log Is Full

SUMMARY

When an event log becomes full, you receive the following error message:

The Name log is full
This article describes how to save the contents of the event log and then clear the log.

To save the contents of the event log and then clear the log:

  1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click Event Viewer.


  2. Click the appropriate event log.


  3. On the Action menu, click Clear all Events.


  4. When you are prompted save the contents of the log, click Yes.


  5. In the File Name box, type a name for the saved event log file, and then click Save. The file is saved in the root folder by default. You can choose another location in the Save In box.


If an unwanted event is filling your event log, it is always best to determine the cause and try to fix problem causing the event.
