Default Connection Security Changes Are Not Applied

ID: Q225038

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 Server

SYMPTOMS

When you change the default connection settings in the server settings in the Terminal Services Configuration snap-in, the changes are not applied to existing connections.

CAUSE

If you manually edit the permissions on a connection before using one of the default connection settings, the default connection settings are not applied to the connection.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, use either of the following methods:

  • Delete any existing connections and re-create them. After the connections are re-created, the default connection settings are applied correctly. However, if you manually edit the permissions on a connection, the default connection settings are no longer applied.

  • Manually assign permissions based on the values of the default connection settings. The default settings are:

  •
    Setting Permissions
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------
Remote Administration Access System: Full Control; Administrators:
                                   Full Control
Application Server System: Full Control; Administrators:
                                   Full Control; Users: User Access
Anonymous Access Everyone: Guest Access; System: Full
                                   Control; Administrators: Full Control;
Users: User Access; Guests: Guest Access

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
