SYMPTOMSWhen you try to update an associated pointer (PTR) record in the properties of an "A" record in a forward zone, the record may not be updated. When this occurs, no error message is displayed. CAUSEThis behavior occurs because Windows 2000 does not try to find the reverse zone again. Windows 2000 does generate a warning when you first create the record stating that the reverse zone cannot be found, but does not warn you when you are trying to update the "A" record again. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, create the reverse zone and then manually add the PTR records to the zone, or delete the "A" records and then add them again with the Create Associated PTR Record check box selected. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
