SYMPTOMSWhen you use less than 65 thousand colors with a Number Nine Imagine 128 video adapter with 4 megabytes (MB)or random access memory (RAM) or an ATI Mach64 video adapter with 4 MB or 1 MB, the background .gif file may be displayed in purple. CAUSEThis issue can occur because when you are using 256 colors the display is paletized. That causes the colors to be mapped to the nearest solid color for that color depth, which in this case is purple. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, configure the color depth to use True color. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000. Additional query words: smallbiz
