SYMPTOMSWhen you boot your Microsoft Windows NT 4.0-based or Microsoft Windows 98-based computer from the Windows 2000 CD-ROM or floppy disks to run Windows 2000 Setup, you receive the following message: This message indicates that Setup did not recognize the operating system you are attempting to upgrade. If you choose to continue, a new installation of Windows 2000 is installed, instead of an upgrade to your current operating system on the selected partition. Installing Windows 2000 on this partition might cause the other operating system to function improperly. CAUSEWindows 2000 does not support upgrading Windows 98 or Windows NT 4.0 by booting from the Windows 2000 Setup floppy disks or CD-ROM. RESOLUTIONTo upgrade, boot your installed operating system and then run Winnt32.exe. STATUSThis behavior is by design. Additional query words:
