Cannot Install BackOffice Products on Windows 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to use the Installer tool from Microsoft BackOffice on a Windows 2000-based computer, the only program available is Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server. All other products (such as Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Exchange, and so on) cannot be selected for installation.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because BackOffice version 4.0 and BackOffice version 4.5 are not compatible with Windows 2000.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, you can install individual programs from their original installation media.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
