Error Messages with Communicator 4.04 After Windows 2000 Upgrade

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade a computer running Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 with Netscape Communicator version 4.04 installed to Windows 2000, you may receive any of the following error messages:

NETSCAPE caused an access violation in OLETHK32.DLL at 0x778756b4.
Click on CLOSE to terminate the application.
Click on IGNORE to continue, you should save your work in a new file.
NETSCAPE caused a General Protection Fault in module PRI1640.DLL at 001:18E2


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
