SYMPTOMS
After you install Windows 2000 on an NEC VersaPro NX laptop, the built-in sound card does not function.
CAUSEThis issue occurs because Windows 2000 does not call the computer's BIOS for the Plug and Play hardware configuration. RESOLUTIONTo work around this problem, change the BIOS Setup configuration from PnP OS Setup" to Auto, which lets the BIOS automatically assign a conflict free resource to this device. The audio driver works correctly using this configuration in Windows 2000 and in Windows 98.
