"Bits Per Second" Setting Is Not Migrated After Windows Upgrade

SYMPTOMS

After you upgrade your Microsoft Windows 98/95-based or Microsoft Windows NT-based computer to Windows 2000, the "Bits per second" setting for your communication (COM) port reverts to the default setting.


CAUSE

This issue occurs because individual port settings are not migrated during Windows 2000 Setup.


RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, manually configure the "Bits per second" setting.
