Re-enabled LS-120 Drive Requires Shutdown and Restart

SYMPTOMS

When you re-enable a disabled integrated device electronics-based (IDE-based) LS-120 disk drive in Device Manager, the drive may not be accessible either in Windows Explorer or from a command prompt.


RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, shut down and restart the computer to enable the LS-120 disk drive.


STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
