SYMPTOMSAfter you upgrade your Packard Bell from Microsoft Windows 98 to Windows 2000, you may receive the following error message when you run the Packard Bell System Credentials (Syscred.exe) tool:
CAUSEThe Syscred.exe tool is attempting to gain direct access to the computer's hardware to display information about the computer. Windows 2000 does not provide support for programs that query the computer's hardware directly. RESOLUTIONTo work around this issue, you can run the System Properties tool to display or change information regarding the hardware installed on your computer. To use this tool, follow these steps:
