Altec Lansing ACS495 USB Speakers May Not Function Properly

SYMPTOMS

After you install Altec Lansing ACS495 speakers on your Windows 2000-based computer, your speakers may not work properly.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because these speakers are being detected as generic Universal Serial Bus (USB) speakers. When this occurs, a generic USB speaker driver is installed, and this driver does not work with these speakers because they do not conform to the USB specification.
