ID: Q227521

The information in this article applies to:
  • Microsoft Windows 2000
  • Microsoft Windows NT Workstation version 4.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT Server version 4.0

SYMPTOMS

When you run the Windows NT Diagnostics program in Windows NT 4.0 or the System Information tool in Windows 2000 and then try to view your computer's CPU speed, the displayed speed may differ from the actual speed of the CPU currently installed. For example, a computer with an Intel Pentium-II processor rated at 266 Megahertz (MHz) may be displayed as "x86 Family 6 Model 3 Stepping 4 GenuineIntel ~264 MHz".

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
