SUMMARY

When you manually put a computer running Windows 2000 into a Standby or Hibernation mode, any ISDN, modem, or VPN connection is disconnected.

MORE INFORMATION

In Windows 2000, you can enable the Hibernate option (and the Standby option on ACPI compliant computers) using the Power Options tool in Control Panel. When you enable these power saving options, you add them to the list of Shutdown options.

When you manually choose to put the computer into Standy or Hibernation mode, by selecting either of these shutdown options, any currently connected ISDN, modem or VPN connections are disconnected. This behavior does not occur when the computer attempts to automatically go into Standby or Hibernation mode. You can configure the time setting in the Power Options tool in Control Panel.

This behavior is by design.
