SYMPTOMSWhen you change the Resize mouse pointer using the Mouse tool in Control Panel, the selected pointer may not seem to be used in Windows Explorer. For example, when you resize a column, the standard pointer may be used instead. When you place the mouse pointer between two columns to resize a column, the pointer changes to a pointer with horizontal arrows pointing left and right with a vertical splitter bar in the middle, regardless of which pointer scheme you select in the Mouse tool. CAUSEThe Split pointer is not the same as the Resize pointer, although they look similar. The Resize pointers consist of double-headed arrows. The Split pointers consist of parallel lines with left and right arrows on opposing ends. They are completely different pointers. The Mouse tool controls only the Resize pointer, which is a system pointer. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
