SYMPTOMS
When you configure your computer to use the Enable pointer shadow option, the option may not be applied. If you view the mouse properties, the Enable pointer shadow check box is cleared, even if you previously selected it. The check box is also cleared even if the video card is running in a mode where the shadow option is expected to function correctly.
CAUSEThis problem occurs when you run Multimon. If you configure one of your monitors for 256 colors, the Enable pointer shadow option is disabled, regardless of the monitor on which the pointer is currently located. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, change the color depth so that both monitors are set to display 24-bit colors or higher. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
