SYMPTOMSWhen you are browsing Web pages with several Microsoft Internet Explorer windows open that were started from within the original browser window, all Internet Explorer windows are closed if an error that causes Iexplore.exe to quit occurs. CAUSEOpening a Web page by pointing to New on the File menu and then clicking Window, or by right-clicking a link and then clicking "Open Link in New Window," does not open a window in a separate Iexplore.exe process, but instead as a child thread of the original Iexplore.exe process. When the main process (the original Internet Explorer window) quits, it closes all of the child threads. RESOLUTIONTo start a new Internet Explorer process, use the Internet Explorer icon on the Quick Launch toolbar or the desktop. STATUSThis behavior is by design. Additional query words:
