SYMPTOMSAfter you upgrade a computer running Microsoft Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2.1 (OSR2.1) to Windows 2000, the screen may flicker or seem to display static when you view the Screen Saver tab in Display properties. CAUSEThis behavior has been observed with several different video adapters that are based on the S3 chip set. The behavior can occur with any screen area (or resolution) when you are using a 256-color setting. WORKAROUNDTo work around this issue, change your color setting to a value other than 256 colors. To do so, click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, double-click Display, click the Settings tab, and then change the setting in the Colors box. STATUSMicrosoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. Additional query words: depth
