SYMPTOMS

The actual battery operating time may be less than the time displayed on your computer. For example, the battery operating time remaining of 10 minutes is displayed, but your computer shuts down in 3 minutes.

CAUSE

This issue occurs because the battery time remaining is a characteristic of the charge level, and most laptop power systems shut down the computer before the battery is completely discharged.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
