SYMPTOMSWhen you upgrade a computer that is using a shell (interface) other than Windows Explorer (Explorer.exe), the shell is changed back to Windows Explorer. CAUSEDuring the upgrade process, Windows 2000 Setup changes the shell setting back to the default because the majority of the interface for Windows 2000 is available only by using Windows Explorer. RESOLUTIONWARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
