SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to start the Narrator tool during the installation of Windows 2000, your computer's sound card may not be detected and the Narrator tool may not start. You may also receive the following error message:

Narrator cannot find the sound card


CAUSE

This problem occurs when you attempt to start the Narrator tool during the early stages of the Windows 2000 installation process.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 2000.
