SYMPTOMS

When you start your Hewlett-Packard (HP) Omnibook 900-series computer that is running Windows 2000, random graphic characters may appear on the screen before the desktop is displayed.

CAUSE

This issue can occur when Windows 2000 switches from real mode to protected-mode video driver support.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
