Intel i740 Does Not Detect Hardware Changes

SYMPTOMS

A computer running Windows 2000 with an Intel i740-based video adapter does not detect hardware changes when you switch (hot dock) from one monitor to another.

RESOLUTION

You must restart Windows 2000 to recognize the new monitor in Device Manager.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.
