CAUSEThe Basic Input/Output System (BIOS), in certain configurations, assigns the ESS 1878 audio device two Direct Memory Access (DMA) channels, both with a value of 0. RESOLUTIONTo resolve this issue, use the appropriate method: Method 1Change the audio hardware configuration in the computer's BIOS to use Configuration 1, and then restart your computer.Consult your computer documentation or contact Compaq Technical Support to determine how to modify the BIOS settings for your computer. Method 2Change the ESS 1878 audio hardware configuration in Device Manager:
