Permedia 2 AGP Video Adapter Disabled with Code 12 on HP Kayak XU

SYMPTOMS

After you install Windows 2000 on a Hewlett-Packard (HP) Kayak XU computer, your Permedia 2 Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) video adapter may not function correctly. When you view the video adapter in Device Manager, the device may have a status of "Code 12."

CAUSE

The Permedia 2 AGP video adapter requires a set IRQ to function correctly in an HP Kayak XU computer. Some BIOS versions on the HP Kayak XU do not set this IRQ.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade your computer's BIOS to version 11.03 or later. The latest BIOS is available from the following HP Web site:
